On August 3, 2022, Fulton County Deputy Sheriff Esfandiar Bakhtiar, (VIPER Operations), Deputy Marshal Luv Dean, Deputy Sheriff Jennifer Gilbert, Deputy Sheriff Charles Green, Deputy Sheriff Lieutenant Sherita Mattox, Deputy Sheriff Kevin Pace and Deputy Sheriff Captain Saber Clarke-Kendle were honored for saving a human life and for their heroic actions while doing so.
Deputy Bakhtiar
Deputy Marshall Dean called for assistance and Deputy Sheriff Bakhtiar responded and immediately began administering CPR, while Lieutenant Mattox counted the chest compressions. Deputy Sheriff Gilbert retrieved an automatic external defibrillator (AED) and used its pads to apply electrical shocks to the patient’s chest.
Paramedic Deputy Sheriff Green and EMT Deputy Sheriff Pace also arrived and assessed the situation. Collectively, they continued life-saving measures. Captain Clark-Kendle, the incident commander, was advised and kept updated on the situation.
Shortly afterwards, the deputies detected a pulse and observed the patient’s eyes opening and saw that he was breathing on his own. EMS personnel from Grady Hospital arrived at about that time and quickly transported him to the hospital for further treatment.
We commend and applaud the above-mentioned deputies for their dedication and heroic actions in the saving of a human life.
