Looking back over our achievements for the past year, 2021 was a productive year for the members of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office V.I.P.E.R. Operations, despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
V.I.P.E.R. Operations began the year with host of appointments and promotions, which were driven by the agency getting a new Sheriff and administration. The following appointments and promotions took effect at the beginning of the year:
- 1 – Lieutenant Colonel
- 1 – Major
- 5 – Captains
- 4 – Lieutenants
- 9 – Sergeants
We also obtained a new website with a new URL and web hosting site.
In 2021, our deputies provided over 31,345 hours of service, compared to an average of 18,000 hours in prior years. They supported operations at the Jail and provided security for the Court Operations, in addition to providing law enforcement support throughout Fulton County. Our deputies conducted patrols, investigated traffic collisions, participated in warrant and civil process details, and responded to calls for service from the citizens and visitors to Fulton County.
V.I.P.E.R. deputies also participated in special traffic enforcement details with officers from the City of Atlanta Police Department, Troopers from Georgia State Patrol, Agents from the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI), and officers from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Sandy Springs Police Department and South Fulton Police Department.
From an Events and Community policing perspective, our deputies worked more than 60 activities in 2021. Some of the major activities included:
- Providing escorts for approximately two dozen funerals.
- Providing escort and security for the Juneteenth Parade.
- Providing escort and security for the annual Kwanzaa Parade.
- Providing security for US Vice President Kamala Harris’s visit to Atlanta.
- Providing security at several community food drive events.
As the records for 2021 close, it is clear that our V.I.P.E.R. Operations deputies have done outstanding work. Congratulations! Now, with 2021 behind us, the forecast for 2022 looks bright.
